Ciao! Rome post number 2 is going to be all about Vatican City. After we arrived in Rome on Saturday afternoon and dropped our bags off at our apartment, we headed to the Vatican to tour the Vatican Museum and Sistine Chapel (sorry, no pictures allowed inside the Chapel!) We had purchased tickets online ahead of time for a 3:00 pm entrance time, which I highly recommend- we were able to walk right in and skip the line that extended around the walls of the Vatican! Since the line for St. Peter’s Basilica was also extremely long, we made a plan to return Monday morning as soon as the doors opened, at 7:00am. Best. Plan. Ever. On Monday morning, we walked right into the Basilica, no problem, and then spent the next hour admiring the beauty of it in silence! After this, we climbed the dome of the cathedral to take in the view of the grounds from the top. Again, we were able to avoid the crowds by going so early. By the time we exited the Basilica at around 9:30am, the church was crowded and the line to enter was extremely long. The early alarm was so worth it!
Saturday afternoon- a bit more crowded than Monday morning!
Unfortunately, the lighting at 8:30am is not the best, I apologize!
